It was an elegant introduction to Ukrainian culture and traditions through art exhibition, sale of authentic Ukrainian souvenirs and heart touching performance of Ukrainian singer, Maryna Krut.

During the exhibition, guests were able to learn more about the world-famous Petrikivka painting, national Ukrainian costumes and traditions. Children also took part in the exhibition with their paintings to help children in Ukraine!

Throughout the evening, all the guests had the opportunity to take part in painting one big picture. Everyone was able to make their own brush stroke with paint.

It was very symbolic - each stroke helped to paint a picture, and each of your donations helped to open a school in the hospital.

We chose the sunflower to paint as it is a symbol of Ukraine and joy.

We passed this painting on to Kiev and it is now placed near the Superheroes class.

During the evening we presented our charity association, listened to the stories of Ukrainians who escaped the war and also enjoyed the beautiful voice of Ukrainian singer Marina Krut and the sound of the bandura.

The bandura is the instrument that best embodies the voice and soul of Ukraine. From a musical perspective, the bandura unifies acoustic principles of both the lute and the harp. This produces a sound that is emphatic and gentle, resembling that of a harpsichord, but with a wide range of dynamics and tonal control.

The bandura’s development closely reflects the history of the Ukrainian nation, dating back hundreds of centuries, and is considered by many to be the national instrument of Ukraine. Historically, the bandura was played by blind minstrels who traveled from village to village singing epic ballads and historical songs. Over centuries, the instrument has evolved in various forms.
